Caraviaggianti is a multimedia work in which music, images and words merge masterfully in a vision capable of penetrating the mysteries hidden in the folds and chiaroscuros of Caravaggio’s life and work. Rita Marcotulli directs a sound investigation between jazz, classical and contemporary music aimed at outlining an initiatory path to the discovery of Michelangelo Merisi’s genius. This is the profound sense of the evocative Caraviaggianti project, a homage to the author of Judith and Holofernes – and with him to the whole of Italian art – dense with interpretative illuminations and sonic thunderbolts that reveal unprecedented perspectives in the observation of his masterpieces. The overwhelming force, violence, torment and ecstasy of his works are captured and imprinted in the transversality of artistic languages, in the jazz imprint that Rita Marcotulli uses as an expressive and interpretative tool of the man, brilliant and elusive, and of his art that transcends time.
