For over 25 years Aires Tango has been the protagonist of the Italian music scene. A group that has released 12 albums since 1994 and has collaborated with great musicians, such as Ralph Towner, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Peppe Servillo, performing live in hundreds of concerts in Italy and Europe. The group was born from an idea of the Argentine saxophonist and composer Javier Girotto, who, drawing inspiration from his musical roots and merging them with the expressive methods typical of Jazz, creates a new musical ground. Making explicit reference to the music of the great Astor Piazzolla, Javier Girotto with Aires Tango arrives at an original music repertoire in progressive evolution, both for its improvisational nature and for the continuous exchange of musical material. Javier Girotto Aires Tango music faithfully reflects the traits of the tangueira melody and jazz improvisation. The result is a sort of treated Tango, with distinctly Latin characteristics for the melodies and rhythms that animate it, but less bound by the canons of traditional Tango and therefore fertile ground for jazz-inspired improvisation; in this way the Aires arrive at a music of remarkable expressive freedom and great charm, in which the echoes of the past merge with the instances of the most modern musical language.
